Female athletes on low-calorie diets participating in cross-country, field hockey, soccer or other college sports may be more likely to get a stress fracture, according to a new study.

(102106) - Kean University freshman forward Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) netted a pair of goals to lead the Cougars past Manhattanville College in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday afternoon. With their third straight victory, the Cougars improved to 8-5 overall, while the Valiants dropped to 2-15 this season.

STATE COLLEGE -- The State College field hockey team earned a 2-0 shutout over East Juniata on Tuesday. The Lady Little Lions (17-2) clinched the Tri-Valley League championship with a 13-1 league record.

FIELD HOCKEY - The only people who believed in the Delran Bears this fall were the only people who mattered. Never known as a field hockey power, the Bears advanced to their first sectional title game and put Delran squarely on the field hockey map.

Two freshmen goalies who must adapt to the speed of the college game will share the starting goaltending position for the Ball State University field hockey team this season. With the Cardinal's season opener against the College of William and Mary on Friday, coach Annette Payne is still undecided whether Caroline Lehman or Tiffany Shifflett will be receiving more playing time in net this season.
